Dear Colleagues and Friends of Professor Greg Brown, Members of the PPGIS Institute Mailing List, and to all those interested in senses of place or participatory mapping research,
Over the past few months, a team led by Prof. Marketta Kyttä and I have revamped the PPGIS Institute Website that was led by Greg. Website 2.0 has been renamed the Participatory Mapping Institute (PMAP) and will be available after the launch date at www.participatorymapping.orghttp://www.participatorymapping.org You are cordially invited to attend the website launch event, to occur on Monday the 21st December 2020, 1600-1700hrs Eastern European Time (EET), Helsinki. Please see attached invite.
The launch will occur via online Zoom Webinar. To attend, can you please fill in the registration form at: https://link.webropolsurveys.com/S/8FC3055BD1B6E963 . Please register by the 15th December 2020.
Greg's partner named Mare Rosenthal will welcome everyone to the event, and from there we will introduce the new research themes and provide an overview of the functionality of the website. We have established the website in a way that it will support an informal global network or open science community that is passionate about participatory mapping research and practice. In this spirit, there will be opportunities for you to add your participatory mapping projects and consortium partners, and they will be visible on a map of the globe. The more projects we have from around the world linked to established themes, the better! During the webinar we will outline the process for adding projects.
Also, in recognition of Greg's work, we have established an archive of all of his previous publications and projects so that you can easily refer to them.
We have also created a new mailing list, which will be compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union. You can also use the registration link above or attached to register for the new mailing list. The old mailing list will end in early 2021.
Thank you for your interest in and support of participatory mapping research and practice. We hope that you can attend this important event and celebrate the continuation of Greg's legacy!
Please bring a glass of something that you enjoy so that we can 'online toast' this new website and celebrate the coming of Christmas!
You are welcome to distribute this invitation to your networks.
